Legends of the Liemers (Dutch: Legenden uit de Liemers)
Did you know an entire village drowned in the lake of Breuly? Do you know the story of Mechteld trying to prove she’s not a witch? Have you ever heard the knights Ploen and Magerhorst fight on Christmas Eve? Do you know why the Babberich estate is sometimes called Castle Halsaf? Have you ever met the Montferland wight for a dance? Have you ever wondered what makes the Sevenaer castle so special? And do you know the bittersweet story of Fredegunde of the Nevelhorst?
De Liemers is a country teeming with legends, with folk tales. Working with Rebers Boek and Buro, the fantasy- and thriller-authors of Nimisa Publishing House each chose one of these legends, and re-told it. With Nimisa a coöperation of authors, they managed to deliver an artistic work the likes of which a traditional publisher would never have been able to create.
Jeroen Mies has graced the anthology with digitally enhanced photographs of the different settings the Liemers-legends take place in.
Legends from the Liemers is available in book stores, online and at the Nimisa webshop from the second week of June.

Historical Stories
(Dutch: Historische Verhalen)
Diversity is what marks this third collection of historical stories, not only written by a wide array of authors, but also set across various eras and epochs. In this collection, for instance, you will witness the struggles of an orphan girl in seventeenth century London, a mason in ancient Egypt facing the daunting task set by his master, the pharaoh, and a pair of priests caring for Charlemagne’s sick elephant.
Historical Stories III is the third in a series of anthologies by publishing house Historische Verhalen. All stories go accompanied by historical notes from the authors themselves. For this anthology, Wouter van Gorp wrote the short story “The last hours of Abbas” (Dutch: De laatste uren van Abbas), about the elephant Abul-Abbas, which Charlemagne received as a gift from the caliph Harun-al-Rashid.

Those who stay
(Dutch: Achterblijvers)
Not all farm boys turn to a life of adventure. Not all princesses allow a handsome prince to take them away to their far-off kingdom. Not all scientists join an expedition to another planet and not every teen chooses to be remade to the newest model cyborg. There are stories to tell about ‘Those who stay’. What motivates them? How do they deal with isolation? What is it they look forward to?
‘Those who stay’ (Dutch: Achterblijvers) (2018) is a collection of short stories published by Godijn Publishing, in which twenty-five authors give twenty-five different views on what it means to ‘stay behind’ in genre literature. From sci-fi to fantasy, mythology to thriller. In this collection, you’ll find Van Gorp’s story “The Raven, The Woman, The Mosaic” (Dutch: “De Raaf, de Vrouw, het Mozaïek”), which came in 5th.
